SUTHERLAND

Klever Dance is proud to present this wonderful dancer and choreographer Malcolm Sutherland who will be portraying NICK in our latest creation FRAMEWORK. Born in Scotland, Malcolm completed his dance education from 2004 to 2007 at the Central School of Ballet, London @csbschool . After a year as an Apprentice In Switzerland with Ballet Basel @theaterbasel , Malcolm was hired for the 2008-2009 season as a member of the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet @staatstheaternuernberg under the directorship of Goyo Montero @monterogoyo . Malcolm spent 7 successful years with the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet, working with such world renowned choreographers as: Jiri Kylian @jirikylian , Nacho Duato @duatonacho , Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Johan Inger @johaninger ,Crystal Pite @crystal_pite , Mauro Bigonzetti, Cayetano Soto @sotocayetano and Douglas Lee @douglasleechoreography . During his time with the Staatstheater Nürnberg Ballet, Malcolm continued to develop his choreographic practice, creating 3 pieces for the young choreographers evening: Our Eternal Silence (2011), The 5th Wall (2013) and Man In the Infinite (2015). Apart from this, Malcolm also created the solo, What Lies Beneath, for Sayaka Kado for a Gala in Tokyo in 2012 and also co-created the music video, Falling Lives, for the band Turning Plates. Malcolm was a finalist at The Burgos/New York Choreography Competition in 2015 with his piece, Man In the Infinite, and was awarded the opportunity to choreograph for Balleto di Siena.
